Reviews and Ratings
The hotel offers spacious rooms with very comfy and enormous beds. The lack of headboards and outdated decor may need attention, along with the need for better breakfast presentation. However, the overall breakfast experience was satisfactory despite some shortcomings.
The hotel room was quite bare and could benefit from a redecoration. We missed the breakfast slot, but what we got was decent, although the pastries seemed stale and not very appetizing. The bathroom in our room needed updating, with chunks of enamel missing, and the old hairdryer had seen better days. Despite these issues, the nice fireplace added a cozy touch to the room.
Upon arrival, the two lovely girls at the reception swiftly checked us in and even accommodated our request to be together in one room. However, the room itself was a letdown due to its poor condition with signs of wear and tear. It was small and uncomfortably hot during our stay.
Staying at the hotel had its perks with easy access to the outdoor hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and steam rooms. The rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed, although a bit dark. However, the proximity to the lift and smoking room hindered our ability to keep the window open. Service was a bit mixed with attentive gestures at the restaurant entrance, but slight inconsistencies in follow-up. The grubby surroundings and outdated shower areas were a downside to the location, despite the convenience for exploring the town and visiting local attractions like the Tullamore Dew Whiskey visitors centre.
The hotel had some positives like great service and lovely food but also had issues like hot rooms and unhelpful staff. The outdoor pool was enjoyable but some areas needed updating. Overall, a mixed experience.
Staying at the hotel was an overall good experience with some drawbacks. The location was excellent, close to stores and with friendly staff. However, the hotel seemed dated and in need of an update, particularly the woman's changing area. The food portions were generous but the parking situation was not ideal.
